Artist Statement
The "In Situ" series are intended to capture my subjects in moments and places where they are most themselves, undisturbed and contemplative. Every painting begins with a specific question. Through what expression in paint, can intimacy be captured? I search for nuance in expression, looking for the subtle turn of the mouth or the lift of a brow that expresses the essential self.
