Michael
Michael
Michael is in my "Flying, Falling, and Floating" series. This series hovers somewhere along the invisible line of tension between awkwardness and grace. I strive to capture the frozen moment in which balance is lost or regained. I tend to avoid faces and let the viewer interpret what is happening to the figure. These mysterious figures transports the viewer to a place of almost tangible but just out of touch. Like a dream we can’t forget.

About The Artist
My favorite pass times as a child were sketching and sewing. Which led me to a career as a fashion designer and a costume designer. My love of fabric and it's "aliveness" inspired me to learn to oil paint. I have a degree in fashion from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. My work has been shown mostly in California including Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the DeYoung Museum.
Artist Statement
My "Falling, Flying, and Floating series is about the deep psychological and physical responses people have to motion. My paintings hover somewhere along the invisible line of tension between awkwardness and grace. In my "Colorblind" series, I shine a light on the missing beauty of skin color and how being racially colorblind denies everyone a full experience of the world.
