Nikolai's Eyes
This photo of Dutch film director and screen writer Nikolai van der Heyde was made while we were having dinner one evening at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, CA, a few years prior to his passing in 2020. I chose to crop the final image to his eyes as an homage to his unique artistic vision.

About The Artist
I am a semi-retired professional photographer with a career spanning over 50 years in the Bay Area. My love for photography began when I was a child and acquired my first "Brownie" type camera when I was 12 years old. The flame has yet to go out.
Artist Statement
In using photography as an art form of self expression, I seek to portray the world as I see it, taking advantage of as much as I am capable, to capture a specific moment while being in it, then utilizing all the tools available to portray it and my sensibilities and reactions to it.
